Good energy. Shared potential.
ZEROHERO is GloBird Energy’s electricity plan and virtual power plant, built for homes with a battery. We install your solar and battery, set you up on the plan, and take the NSW VPP incentive off your quote upfront.
From quote to your first credit.
Your battery fills up around midday, when power is cheap, then runs your home in the evening, when it’s expensive. Here’s how we get you there.
- 01
Get your quote.
We visit, assess the site and design your solar and battery system. Your quote shows the federal battery discount and the NSW VPP incentive already taken off the price.
- 02
Choose ZEROHERO when you sign.
You agree to join GloBird’s ZEROHERO plan as part of your solar and battery proposal.
- 03
Installation day.
Our in-house crew installs and commissions your system and sets your battery to charge at midday and power your home in the evening. The same day, we help you complete your ZEROHERO sign-up with GloBird.
- 04
Start earning.
GloBird sends a welcome email confirming you’re on the plan. Forward a copy to us so we can finalise your incentive paperwork. From then on, your battery can use the midday ZeroCharge window, and you could earn $1 a day for staying off the grid in the evening peak, plus bonus credits for evening exports.
Built for homes with a battery.
ZEROHERO is an electricity plan from GloBird Energy, an Australian electricity retailer. With so much rooftop solar on the grid, power is cheap in the middle of the day and expensive in the evening, and ZEROHERO rewards a battery for working with that. It won Innovation of the Year – Energy Plan at the WeMoney Innovation Awards 2026.
ZeroCharge
$0.00 per kWh for grid electricity used during a daily 3-hour window. Top up the battery, run the dishwasher or washing machine, or charge an EV.
- 12pm–3pm daily for customers joining from 1 July 2026 (11am–2pm if you joined before then)
- Standard circuits only. Controlled load, such as off-peak hot water, is charged at the normal rate
- Fair-use cap of 50 kWh a day, based on a 28-day billing cycle
- GloBird may occasionally reduce or pause battery charging in certain market conditions; household appliances still get the free power
ZeroHero credit
A $1 bill credit each day, up to about $365 a year, for staying off the grid in the evening peak.
- Evening peak is 6pm–9pm local time, every day
- “Off the grid” means drawing less than 0.03 kWh per hour from the grid in that window
ZeroWastedSolar
Three feed-in rates depending on the time of day, plus a bonus Super Export Credit on the first 15 kWh you export during the 6pm–9pm evening peak each day.
- Exact rates depend on your network and are shown in GloBird’s quote and Energy Fact Sheet
ZEROLIMITS add-on
$1 per kWh for energy exported during wholesale “critical” price events, plus other critical-event credits. It’s only available on certain battery brands, and Sigenergy and SAJ, the batteries we install, are both on the list. The base features above work with any battery brand.
Compatible brands: AlphaESS, Anker, FoxESS, Neovolt, Redback, SAJ, Sigenergy, SolaX, Solis + Dyness, Sungrow and WHES (formerly eCactus).
ZEROHERO is GloBird Energy’s plan, so joining means moving your electricity account to GloBird. Ausave installs and sets up your system; we aren’t your electricity retailer. Rates, credits and time windows vary by electricity network, and GloBird can change credit rates, time windows and thresholds in line with its terms. Check GloBird’s Energy Fact Sheet or Basic Plan Information Document for your address. Information current as at 29 September 2026.

ZEROHERO is also a virtual power plant (VPP): a network of home batteries that can be coordinated to support the grid at busy times. GloBird says it meets the requirements for government VPP incentives, while you stay in control of your battery. So in NSW, joining it can also qualify you for the NSW Government’s VPP incentive.
With many VPP offers, you install the battery, sign up, then wait for the incentive to be paid out later. We apply it as a discount on your quote instead, the same way the federal battery discount is applied, so you see the lower price before you sign.
In return, you agree at signing to join ZEROHERO, and to complete your ZEROHERO sign-up on the day your system is commissioned. Our team walks you through it.
See rebates and incentivesAbout the NSW VPP incentive
- A one-off incentive from the NSW Government, under the NSW Peak Demand Reduction Scheme
- Batteries from just over 2 kWh up to 50 kWh are eligible. It’s calculated on your battery’s usable capacity, up to 28 kWh, so a larger battery qualifies but doesn’t get more
- Stacks with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program discount, so you can get both
- Your VPP agreement needs to stay in place for at least 12 months
- A battery that has already received the NSW VPP incentive can’t claim it again
A good fit for the systems we install.
ZEROHERO is designed around what a home battery does well. Here’s why it suits our customers, and what you need to join.
Why it suits our customers
- Built for battery owners. The whole plan is designed around what a battery does well, so you get more from the system we install.
- Works with a smaller solar array. Midday grid charging means the battery can be filled on cloudy days or in winter, not just from the panels.
- You stay in control. Your battery is scheduled to charge at midday and power your home in the evening. You’re not handing it over to be drained.
- Local network. Most homes across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the Hunter and the Central Coast are on the Ausgrid network, which ZEROHERO covers. Homes further north, such as around Port Macquarie, are generally on Essential Energy, where ZEROHERO rates differ.
To join ZEROHERO, you need to
- Be a residential customer in NSW, not a business or ABN account
- Own and live in the home, or otherwise have the right to use the system
- Not have life-support equipment registered at the property
- Have a smart meter
- Have a reliable internet connection (fibre broadband or 5G) for the battery system
- Not be in any other VPP or demand-response program
- Have a qualifying system: an inverter between 3 kW and 30 kW, and a battery between 3 kWh and 100 kWh
For the NSW VPP incentive, the battery must be from just over 2 kWh up to 50 kWh, with the incentive calculated on up to 28 kWh of usable capacity.
